Total Votes per party (so far). Proportional representation would put Respect at No. 3. Labours majority would also be far less.

    1. Labour: 9,650,254

    2. Conservative: 6,771,974

    3. Respect: 4,076,645

    4. Lib Dems: 3,489,570

    5. Green: 1,934,554

    • But the same thing hurt Labour in previous elections no?yuekit
    • If you add up the numbers it comes out as a 15 point lead for the left and liberal parties over the right-wing ones.yuekit
    • 53% to 38%. That's only counting the five you listed here, there's another 9% consisting of SNP, Sinn Fein etc.yuekit
    • These are all centre left or centre right parties. They are more similar than they are different. I don't understand why you'd polarise the outcome into Left...Morning_star
    • ...and right. That isn;t how politics works. My piont was that PR sometimes doesn't do us the favours the Lib Dems always go on about.Morning_star
    • it'll be interesting to see how committed the PR fans are when it results in 50+ Reform MPs. Unpleasant but necessary..Fax_Benson
    • they are more similar than different . lol..
. with that mindset u boldly pave the way for farage and co. ... whats this the comedy hour...

    • not a big suprise the uk enjoyed their brexit when their differentiaion game is as beyond low as yours..neverscared
    • The share of vote makes the win a little precarious. Tony Blaires Labour party came to power with 46% of the votes. Starmer's is near 34%. It's not going..Morning_star
    • ...to take much of a swing to narrow that gap and make the next general election interesting to say the least.Morning_star
    • Apparently Corbyn received more votes in 2019 but lost by a landslide. Weird!!Ianbolton
