I learned a lot from my first real gardening season. For starters, I hate and want to murder all squirrels and rabbits.
-Poblanos were all smaller than I would have liked but tasted delicious.
-Green onions are thin and lanky but very strong in flavor and scent.
-The two or three good-sized zucchini I got were okay but not worth the space and effort.
-Tomatoes were Chocolate Sprinkle cherry tomato and Early Girls. These unfortunately were eaten daily by squirrels but OMG were they all so good! Really is true how much sweeter a homegrown tomato is compared to a store-bought one!
-I'm also growing Carolina Reapers which I have absolutely no idea what to do with lol. They took forever, and this huge plant has only yielded four peppers in total.- Nice!
when I grew Reapers from seeds I got on Amazon they weren't spicy at all for some reasonYakuZoku - ayeee green onions!pango
- Welcome to O.C.G. -> Obsessive Compulsive Gardening.
: )ideaist - Those poblanos look amazing! Stuff them with meat and cheese and update.garbage
- Char reaper on the grill, slice, then to a giant pot of slow cooker chilli. You won't be sorry. In a vat that big, it wont burn anymore but it will taste great!shellie
- DAMN, that would make a great salsa! I suck at gardening, tried and it all died.hydro74
- I made three salsas already with my tomatoes and all came out very good. I stored them in pickling jars in the fridge.HijoDMaite
- Garbage the poblanos were seriously too small to stuff, I've just been roasting them. maybe I need me some hormonesHijoDMaite
- shellie that's a great idea!HijoDMaite
- dumb question, do you stove roast them or fire up the grill and do it that way? been meaning to give grilling jalapeƱos and poblanos a go.hydro74

- Tomatoes are what I would call advanced gardening. Everything in nature likes to eat tomatoes, not just humans. You can try spraying neem oil to fight pests, cherub
- and of course insecticidal soap(it drowns spider mites). Peppers are beginner friendly, and drought tolerant and if u forget to water, it makes them hotter.cherub
- Alliums are fun bcuz u can chop the stem off the ones u buy at shop, they will regenerate from the bulb in water, then put in dirt to plant.cherub
- Curcubits(squash,cuc... get attacked by lots of stuff, plain yellow squash will get attacked by the vine borer bug if u dont prespray with B.T. (a bacteriacherub
- based non-chemical insecticide). Once the vine borer eats the BT it loses appetite and dies of starvation. Squash blossoms can be eaten, FYI. Stuff the freshcherub
- blossoms with ricotta cheese, drop in hot oil... its called fried squash blossoms, a delicacy.cherub
- Look at how glossy those poblanos are! I should try growing some on my balcony, since they're impossible to buy in supermarkets here.Continuity
- You can stuff them with cheese and roast them, slice them up and apply to tortilla. Also: salsa city.garbage
- Nice!
