I feel ashamed and bad about what I did today. I got physical with one of my co workers (copy writer) and shoved him into the wall because I was so pissed.

He sent me incomplete texts for a treatment and all I asked him in the chat was if I shall copy the same text to a few different ideas. It didn't make sense because the visual ideas where all a bit different.

He got impatient and replied in a very arrogant manner and the came over to me and started belittling me in front of the whole team. So I flipped, stood up to him, told him fuck off and shoved him.

We usually get along well, joke around and send memes to each other but I think the bridge is burned now even though we talked it out and he acknowledged that the treatment needed different texts.

Still I feel bad because I'm not the aggressive type and my other co workers saw me in this dumb moment flipping out on him.

Have you ever had such an incident at work?

    • Physical, ever.

That I would have hit my cheater ex-boss? A thousand times!!

    • When did you last wank? Maybe you need to work something out?Nairn
    • And no, I've never had such an incident, work-related. In your shoes I'd expect a less than wonderful meeting with HR.Nairn

    • No this won't go to HR, I don't work at a bank. I asked him if we should talk to the bosses about it and if I should quit and he said no.NBQ00
    • FLOL, mono!palimpsest
    • No he's not bald and I like Baldie but he hates me and insults me all the time.NBQ00
    • Of course violence is inexcusable, bit it sounds like it wasn't unwarranted. Likely a failure elsewhere in the org, creating a toxic work environment.monNom
    • You should take this as a serious warning sign that something needs to change. You could find yourself in a whole lot more trouble next time.monNom
    • No it's not toxic. I just lost my cool. All that is happening now in the world and the fact that Baldie hates me made me emotional.NBQ00
    • You assaulted someone in the workplace in front of others and then asked that same person if you should quit? The whole thing sounds toxic afwhatthefunk
    • It was only toxic between him and me.NBQ00
    • He is bullying you. Your employer is allowing that behaviour to persist. You become so emotionally agitated that you lashed out physically.monNom
    • There's lots of blame to go around, but you've got to recognize that you are in a situation which is so stressful that you might commit a crime. Pay attention.monNom
    • That's how it sounds to me anyways... I mean, you're not generally walking around shoving people, right? Just this guy? just this time?monNom
    • You need to put yourself in a position where it's not going to happen again. For your sake.monNom
    • This was the first time I got physical in like 20+ years. Last time as a kid. And I only shoved him to the wall, not punched and wouldn't haveNBQ00
    • Exactly. Something about the current situation has got you so wound up you assaulted another person. Don't ignore that. It's a hint you need to change somethingmonNom
    • your lucky you didn't get fired, or reported for Assault.autoflavour

    • On the bright side, you feel bad, which is good, because you definitely should after conducting yourself like that. Points to mono for the throwback diss lolBuddhaHat
