3 years ago I came up with a multiplayer game idea.
Once a year we have a 'free project' week, and so last year I convinced 2 co-workers to make a prototype of it. Only one of us had used Unreal Engine before, but we got it done in 4.5 days. I presented it to the whole company and people could play it at a party afterwards. They were really surprised at what 3 UI designers had made.
This year we continued it, but 3 more people joined, so now 2/6 people had Unreal experience. The amount of work we got done was staggering.
Sure everything needs to be tested and balanced more but its a unique and really solid game at its core. The presentation went smoothly again, though I really stressed about editing a trailer and making a powerpoint presentation until 5 minutes before the deadline.
It was a looong but fun and productive week.
- that's awesome man, when can we play? :)_niko
- Sounds nice! I love prototyping early ideation and concept phases, before everything gets to entangled. What sort of game is it. 3d/2d Desktop/mobile?islandbridge
