I need to build a website for my mom's pet sitting business. its main priority is allowing users to book dates, maybe add on a grooming option, add any notes they may have, and then process payments for it.
I've been looking at booking systems and every single one requires a paid signup to even look at its options. AI site-building services are the same. can't explore options or try them out to see if they even do what I want without throwing down cash first.
is my best bet Wordpress and some kind of plugin?
- Yes to WP or do a simple Squarespace site - there's already a cart / all the accoutrement built-in... I think you just connect it up to a bank acct and goPonyBoy
- If you're not gonna have the time for maintenance then don't go Wordpress.oey_oey
- Personally I'm looking into an option where the client pays up to 25€ a month instead of paying me 75€ because either people don't want to pay that amount...oey_oey
- ...of money or I don't want to be doing back-end stuff when I'm simply a designer. tired of that.oey_oey
- So Squarespace seems the best option in the US because of the payment methods. Many swear on Wix despite me hating it.oey_oey
- yeah, it needs to be boomer friendly and I don't want to do a lot of maintenance. checking out squarespace, thanks!scarabin
- My cousins' kid is using this app :
https://www.rover.co…
So far it's been a no-brainer for herGnash - She uses that now. Wish i could paste some rover code onto her site and be done with itscarabin
- Maybe i should just put a “book now” button that links to her rover profile? That feels like a hack but i don’t know if i can compete with their form systemscarabin
- ^ I’d do that - Link to rover. She’d probably benefit more from a Facebook / insta pageGnash

- 100% agree with Gnash.pusherbot
- webflow - super easy, has a 'logic' section for creating a booking flow.shapesalad
- What problem are you trying to solve exactly? Does Rover take too high of a % and/or do they not offer extra services like grooming?whatthefunk
- It bothers me that rover is a collection of thousands of competitors and we’re taking potential clients right to them. Same reason i don’t sell art on etsyscarabin
- Ppl find her through rover often though, so i think she should keep using it. A branded, standalone solution would be nice also though. Seems more professionalscarabin
- Acuity scheduling seems robust. I added it to a squarespace site and it’s cool so far. together they’re like $30/mo https://www.squaresp…scarabin
- For booking, my wife uses Amelia for Wordpress. It was like $180 lifetime or $80 year. Works great! https://wpamelia.com…ArmandoEstrada
