My friend went on a fishing trip over the weekend and generously brought us a whole Yellowfin tuna! We ended up with a generous amount of fillets, collars, and the belly.
Cleaning and filleting the fish was quite a challenge. I'm no expert, so I probably ended up wasting some of the delicious meat. We've been enjoying sashimi and Poke bowls all weekend long. Tonight, we're looking forward to grilling the collars. :-)

- The main concern about eating raw tuna is the potential to ingest parasites and mercury.utopian

- @utop Fish standards are already thrown out the window. You will have high Hg levels with any predator fish.garbage
- Even freshwater, it's now scientifically inadvisable to eat any fish caught in pretty much all of the US.garbage
- That said, I wish I had a friend like Hijo. Look at photo 2. I'd nip the tip of the fillet and go nuts with it, that thing keeps the color all the way tip.garbage
- that will cost you a shitload of money when buying fresh from the market.milfhunter
- I haven’t checked in a couple years but I’m sure my fish market has sashimi grade ahi upwards of $25 per lbs. insane.HijoDMaite
- Aka I wish I had seen your suggestion. I did EVOO, lemon, s&p, and some blackened seasoning. BBQ with foil covering it.HijoDMaite
