"Give it more power!" shouted Bubnov into the pipe and opened the firebox.
Zhazhogin stuck his pensive face out of the cabin and began tossing slices into the firebox, ruthlessly dipping them into the trough with fuel oil. The red-hot belly of the firebox greedily consumed the pieces of human material.
"Whose slices are we riding on?" asked another legless man. "On the Cossacks' slices, perhaps?"
"You won't get far with officers these days!" reasoned Bubnov. "They burned their own fat in sheer terror! There's nothing to cut from their bones!"
"Then it must be the bourgeoisie's slices?" the invalid brightened up.
