Some believe that the ancient institution of marriage originated as covenant created by a holy God specifically for one man and one woman.
Some believe that this holy God is grieved by the homosexual lifestyle.
Therefore, some believe it would be wrong to promote the "union" of homosexuals in marriage. Some even believe "outlawing" it is not the goverment's right, but neither is condoning it or providing special rights, etc...
