    Comcast.

They have a monopoly on cable internet. I literally have no other option for anything over 25mbps (or whatever DSL is). My bill goes up every year, and I can't do shit. I can't even downgrade.

400mbps is the slowest plan now. 100 is honestly plenty for me, and most households. At my old office we had an entire office building running off a single 500mbps connection. This was probably 50-60 employees, including VPN clients coming in, and like 5 websites using the upstream connection. Plus, a public WIFI! And, it wasn't slow.

Is everyone 4k streaming now? These fuckers still have a 1TB cap on bandwith. That number could be hit binge-watching a show over the weekend in 4k.

    • *not including VPN clients. That was another 10 people, give or take.section_014
    • Every cable company is horrible. Worse than airlines. Their customer service policy seems to be Fuck You.CyBrainX
    • Mm, the monopolistic practices of these companies is a pecularily American construct in 'the West'.Nairn
    • The odd thing is where I am in NYC, I have Verizon, Spectrum and RCN as options but they're all awful.CyBrainX
    • As a pro video guy, Comcast became my nemesis after the pandemic (upload caps to ~5mpbs). Was lucky that fiber came into my area so I switched.evilpeacock
    • Verizon kicks ass. I get gigabit fiber into my house for cheaper than most competitors bundled packages. No fees.monospaced
    • In the Seattle area CenturyLink 1GB fiber w/o caps costs about $5 more than a 200mbps Comcast plan that caps to 5mpbs upload after 1min.evilpeacock
