    A job I saw on LinkedIn for a:

    'Brand & Motion Designer'

    Requirements:

    Design and create brand assets across both print and digital;
    Lead the design of company digital and physical magazine;
    +4 years creating brand and graphical designs across print and digital;

    ok... but also:
    Experience creating motion graphics;
    Create video and 3D animated videos;

    and

    Experience with Figma,

    Fuck sake, which? What? A jack of everything?

    There's no way you can be great at Figma, at print and digital, a good eye for proper graphic design, working on branding *and* do 3D - not for static work, but motion/video work... which is a beast of a skill to master and learn and keep on top of.

    • No salary range mentioned... but you know it's going to be £35k...shapesalad
    • And provide your own equipment type of shit as it's 100% remote.shapesalad
    • Also must be full insured, available for daily meetings, and the ability to work over weekends and holidays.utopian
    • Sorry to say, but there’s days being able to do it all is not only possible it’s what we expect.monospaced
    • It doesn’t Say you have to be great at figma. Just have some experience. So it wants an experienced brand designer who can do some motion.monospaced
    • If it’s in house then the brand is already established. You wouldn’t be doing brand design as much as just executing campaigns.monospaced
    • Updating the magazine, digital and print, and some video. Standard stuff these days.monospaced
    • Yeah, well, can't they say something like - "ability to figure out and use softwares like Figma or C4D as required on a project by project basis." yes I canshapesalad
    • I've looked at Figma, seems simple. But never had a project where I needed it. But yeah, give me a day and I'm confident I can figure it out, as I can use C4D..shapesalad
    • ... which is far more complex and I have decade of Adobe use.shapesalad
    • I'm say, if you want a designer with good taste, style, eye - then it's super rare that they have the technical ability for complex 3D and big UI projects.shapesalad
    • A few are like that.. but they are at big global brands on a 6 figure salary.shapesalad
    • Not an in-house job, in a small city, in a small european country for a unknown brand.shapesalad
    • Well, I’m one of the big brand guys with a 6 fig salary and I’m expected to do it all and do it well, always with great design at the coremonospaced
    • But fuck figma. That’s for the junior of juniors who we want to do the production work (aka button design)monospaced
    • yeah, see you are at the top big brand company and well paid, that job was in Braga Portugal for a tiny non known company.shapesalad
    • I've been on interviews where the job description doesn't match what the people say in the interview. It's an old job posting no one bothered to update.CyBrainX
    • £35k in Portugal? Good luck getting that muchdmay
    • this is the skillset of most working brand designers i know + a ton more on top. it's just the job, not jack of all trades at allkingsteven
    • yup, kingmonospaced
