- to get a Pantone color to reproduce on press and not an Epson Inkjet using hexachrome inks requires booking a 5 color print job with your print vendorjonny_quest_lives
- Pantone was and is just a reference library... yes they sold inks but the majority of major print companies have inhouse mixing labs that mix an ink to matchjonny_quest_lives
- so assigning a pantone in illustrator or indesign or Pchop without talking to your print vendor does fuck all for getting a spot color outputjonny_quest_lives
- the Epson p9000 does a really good job at reproducing most Pantone colors with the exception of Metallics...jonny_quest_lives
- but that printer uses aEpson UltraChrome® HDX ten-color pigmented ink set to achieve that wide gamut and at the end of the day most press facilities at mostjonny_quest_lives
- may have a 6 color inline sheetfed with the 6 unit being for varnish so unless... specialty print is expensive and a dying specialty...jonny_quest_lives
