one of my mackie mr5 monitors went out on me.
do i buy a used replacement? used speakers? no.
do i buy a new replacement monitor? probably not.
do i buy a new pair to replace these? i don't really want to.- kinda depends on whats blown PSU? Amp? Driver? Fixed a pair of Alesis monitors for a friend by replacing one diode in the PSU (i remember it cost 36p)kingsteven
- driver is probably the hardest thing to match. if it's just not turning on at all prob the easiest to repair. and easy to diagnose because you have twokingsteven
- it seems mackie don't sell matched pairs though, so you would be grand just to switch one out tbf.kingsteven
- you see my predicament. this "pair" is easily 8 years old, with plenty pushed through them during that timeimbecile
- totally. if you're handy with a soldering iron it's worth a look, worth selling both for the same reason - a lot of folks buying gear to repair, you'll get morekingsteven
- than just selling the working one. had a clearout last year, sold 3 broken boss tuners for more than what 2 working ones would sell forkingsteven
- looking at the manual, I am pretty handy with a soldering iron... probably take it apart this eveningimbecile
- nice one, if it's not powering on at all check the obvious: fuses and any discoloured components, hope it's not SMD... be wary of any big caps.kingsteven
