It's Cannes Lions season again, and my entire LlinkedIn feed is saturated with self-congratulatory expressions of pride, ego, humble-brag, and smarminess.
Blah. Am I jealous that — once again — nothing I've worked on even got submitted? Yeah, but in the sense that I never felt like I was _truly_ accepted in this business, and this just goes to reinforce that feeling.
I know, I know. These awards shows are all rigged, and ultimately mean nothing, and I shouldn't be tying my identity to my occupation.
- awards.... you only win if you enter, you only enter if you want your ego stroking.shapesalad
- I know.
I know.
Sigh.Continuity - My professional ego needs stroking, damn it.Continuity
- People proud of winning an industry award for the adverts they worked on? Lololololol********
- Continuity, I work in the same field.
You want your ego stroked, but deep down you know it would be worthless coming from these people.spl33nidoru - @spl33n I know. You're right.Continuity

- QBN sourced flick. We have all of the moving parts.garbage
- It’s all a self congratulatory circle jerk to try and validate what we do. But what we do is just try and get people to buy shit they don’t need or really want.thumb_screws
- Industry tries to self validate by having all these awards to try and add weight to the industry. Adz lyfthumb_screws
- Seriously. I can't even stand going through an airport anymore and being subjected to all the vapid luxury ads.
@Continuity, I never had a linkedin, sorry!spl33nidoru
