More reasons to take the stairs, overheard the lift engineer talking to the porter...
"Four screws loose at the top, good job I checked them."
"Cable was twisted, had I not seen it, that would have been a nasty drop"
"If I can't hear it, I can't see what there is to fix - when did they hear it making a noise?"
- I’ve been in a falling elevator. Fell 12 stories before the manual catch caught me at the bottom. My body collapsed.********
- It was in my building too so that sucked********
- Did your feet stay on the floor during the fall?scarabin
- Yes my feet stayed on the floor. It just felt like a very very fast, shaky elevator going down.********
- I presume there is some manual safety braking mechanism for such events and that’s what stopped the elevator car before it hit the actual bottom of the shaft********
- And when it stopped, it came to a stop almost instantly, causing my legs to give in and I collapsed to the floor. I’ve been hurt worse skateboarding********
- wow... scary non the less. There's also lifts getting stuck.. for hours, with other people.. when you need a pee...shapesalad
- Good god, that's horrifying. And yeah, they have a mechanical safety clutch that catches if it descends too fast, sounds like what you had happen.garbage
- Imagine stalling out in a car that's driving straight down a pit, and it's pretty much what happened to you.garbage
