    "Whataboutism

gives a clue to its meaning in its name. It is not merely the changing of a subject ("What about the economy?") to deflect away from an earlier subject as a political strategy; it’s essentially a reversal of accusation, arguing that an opponent is guilty of an offense just as egregious or worse than what the original party was accused of doing, however unconnected the offenses may be.

The tactic behind whataboutism has been around for a long time. Rhetoricians generally consider it to be a form of tu quoque, which means "you too" in Latin and involves charging your accuser with whatever it is you've just been accused of rather than refuting the truth of the accusation made against you. Tu quoque is considered to be a logical fallacy, because whether or not the original accuser is likewise guilty of an offense has no bearing on the truth value of the original accusation."

    • < this is the favourite tactic around here to "discuss"

when you say something "offending" about someone, they use whataboutism as a defending mechanism
      ********
    • < this is very easy to do especially in the comments sections where any and all posts can be taken out of context if the flow is interupted
      ********
    • < this mechanism is very easy to spot around here and proves that most QBN users are very - let's say "trumpian" - in their views and arguments
      ********
    • < this around here also leads to cognitive dissonance so often

aka the starting of drama around here after someone FEELS insulted in some way
      ********
    • aaaand this is why QBN is a VERY effective social experiment still ongoing
      ********
    • no wonder some of us here build tools on top of QBN to study the overall behaviours hehe
      ********
    • btw Whataboutism is a tactic commonly used by Putin and communists in general to deflect so whenever you do it too, you're turning into a lil' Putin yourself ;)
      ********
    • anyway, it's very easy to spot: when you call someone stupid - they attack your country or dig up old posts to "prove" in their mind you're one too
      ********
    • but by doing so, proving they're in fact idiots

this is why people often call out Trump or Putin or others that use whataboutism
      ********
    • so remember: whenever someone uses whataboutism around here to deflect from the fact they have no clue - relax, you've already won, move on
      ********
    • a whole discussion about this and no one mentioned Fox News. They didn't invent it but they sure got rich from it.CyBrainX
