People use Windows because they've never used anything else, and have never even considered a Mac. When they bought a PC at Circuit City in 1998, it had Windows. Their PC at work is Windows. Mac's are some weird thing they could never learn. They have no idea what Linux is.

Even system admins at companies are like this. Windows Server, Active Directory, Domain Controllers. These idiots waste so much money on licenses for shit that can be done for free (or much cheaper) using Linux.

A big reason is (for IT staff): they're terrified of the terminal. Windows is point and click, and that's easy to do. Nevermind the fact that it's 10 clicks of arbitrary bullshit, and Linux is usually editing a single text file in vim. And, once you get used to it after a few months, you realize you're 10x faster in a terminal. But, that's too hard.

    • That's all valid but why do fonts still look like shit?Hench
    • Type "ClearType" in search and select "Adjust ClearType Text". This allows you to tweak sub-pixel type rendering... you can even match Apple's blurry type.monNom
    • No, you can't. If you weren't an NPC retard you might have actually read my post in which case you'd have known that already tried that nonsenseHench
    • I've managed Windows Server, half of the things you might need to do are command-line only. It's not all point-and-click!evilpeacock
