Hey, I'm an electronic musician with a huge modular synth rack, 20 vintage drum machines and analog synths, 9 bass guitars with 50 pedals, fully soundproofed studio with a industry standard mixing console and 5 sets of sound monitors etc.
"Can I hear some of your music?"
"Sure!"
"Oop-tss oop-tss oop-tss oop-tss."
"That music could be made with a weak-end Aldi laptop"
"No I need all this gear"- is this you Autoflavour? ;-)Ianbolton
- Exactly this! All that equipment and no melody, groove, or creativity...shapesalad
- the obsession with hoarding equipment is weird but each to their own I guess.fadein11
- that and never actually finishing a track.fadein11
- Process more important than outcomedrgs
- Can it be about the journey rather than the destination? Playing with hardware is infinitely more fun than using a UI on a screen with a mouse.mort_
- Weatherall said a lot about this, he said by all means make an entire track on your cheap laptop but at least run it through something analogue beforefadein11
- mastering, I agree with this thinking generally but I have plugins that pretty much do this now anyway.fadein11
- Never understood the modular thing at all though. That's just a very expensive train set.fadein11
- This is such a bullshit post / thread.mort_
- I'm talking about actually finishing and releasing music, not just a fun hobby. If a hobby and you have cash then go ahead. Just saying fetishisingfadein11
- equipment is pretty much pointless now when releasing music.fadein11
- Some VST shit is as good as a real life orchestrababydick_
- Orchestras are pretty much pointless nowmort_
- hoarding orchestras is impractical and possibly even illegal.fadein11

- ^ what are you oofing about, don't you know 'equipment is pretty much useless now' - wtf fadein, there is no recipe or gear list for producing music.canoe
