I have a distant acquaintance who’s teenage kid has started some kind of physical transition with hormones etc. And changed their name, school, clothing and all.
I was kind of shocked that someone could be allowed to make life changing decisions like this durning those emotionally confusing teenage years.
I do know it wasn’t an overnight decision and it has been life changing in a positive way for them. So all’s well that ends well. I wonder does it always turn out to be the right decision at that age.
- how old? imagine being the child's parents, I'd really struggle with that decision regardless of what they wanted.fadein11

- They were around 13 / 14. Yep, parents must have really gone through it.mort_
- And the I believe the kid was depressed for a long time leading up to it. Counselling involved. Not decided on a whim.mort_
