This may seem silly, but I'm not in the know on this one.

We want to make cookie-cutter vids using predominately graphics, images, and text. However, we'd also like to use footage as well.

The vids will be relatively short and highlight a certain aspect of a vehicle's history. I've found editorial footage of the cars...

If we are not directly selling the product in the piece, but just talking about the car, would that happen to land under editorial?

Or can only 'journalistic' businesses use editorial footage? My client is automotive retail.

    • editorial content is used to inform, considered opposite of commercial content which is used to sell. a larger dealer would have access to factory footage.imbecile
    • If it's in any way a promotional tool for the business then it's not editorial and would possibly attract some heavy usage fees, particularly if you don't...Morning_star
    • ..have permissions or are using it under and editorial license.Morning_star

    • @imbe - it's not a dealership... aftermarket products rather.canoe
    • It's only graphic? If so, contract an illustrator, and this way they'll only sue him ;)OBBTKN
    • I was kidding, obv. But has it ever happened to me...OBBTKN
