Hey, Scarabin - I wonder if you can shine answer a stupid wee question for me?

There's an original Wayne's World poster that's been in the bogs here for a while, that some cretin's tagged it and pulled down at a gig last night. It's now rolled up and set upon a pile, and I've just noticed that it has an exactly-registered mirroring print on the reverse side, but with some different colours, so that in place of the Front's Orange Main text the rear has Yellow Main Text and the main photography's same colours, but lighter.

I presume this is something to do with rear-illumination, or something? Perhaps to encourage saturation or account for the brightness of a probably white light?

Do you know anything about this sort of thing? I've never seen it before, is all.

    • shine a light? I think I started that then pulled back from the punnyness of itNairn
    • I'm at work. I don't have gigs in the toilets at home. Perthaps I should.Nairn
    • all movie posters utilize double sided printing for the idea of being backlit. it is a long standing tradition in the USimbecile

    • Definitely because it’s a light box print. I’ve seen these many times and used to seek these out for thismonospaced
    • Wow, thanks Imbecile - that's exactly it!

Very clever idea - I'm a bit ashamed I'd not come across it before.

    • That’s exactly what it is. Backprinting makes up for lost saturation from backlighting. It’s just for posters in lightboxes at theatersscarabin
    • We do them for outdoor and indoor use, though vertical screens are increasingly being used these days. Studios love it when we do an animated version for themscarabin
    • +1 all!

      Thanks, x
