Thread on the impact of sanctions by a Russian economics professor... "In short, my scientific conclusion is that Russia is fucked.."

    https://twitter.com/mironov_fm/s…

He says Russia has already stopped manufacturing at factories that rely on foreign parts and predicts soon there will be shortages of food and other basic goods and shutdown of entire industries.

    • not good. I think the west needs to be very careful with how far this goes. Need to shut down assets of Kremlin bods, generals, state actors, not entire popFax_Benson
    • seems to be a weird virtue signalling from big biz desperate to be seen to be involved - blocking imports, shutting factories etc. to what end?Fax_Benson
    • Bro it's war, ofc you shutdown and cancel everything with the invader
      ********
    • I agree it can be headed towards a dangerous inflection point but "to what end" is pretty clear actually...yuekit
    • A country that can't produce basic goods or service its equipment will have a lot of trouble waging a war.yuekit
    • Not sure Toyota and Siemens closing factories will hit their war effort in the short term. Not saying it shouldn't be done, just consider the consequences.Fax_Benson
    • could end up with a bigger humanitarian crisis in Russia, who effectively become a European N Korea on steroids.Fax_Benson
    • The only person that should be considering consequences is pootin.shapesalad
