  Does anyone even remember this? The goal was to if not to annex, but to separate Abkhazia and South Ossetia from Georgia, or at least declare them as independent states. They are still disputed territories.

  Replace Abkhazia with Donetsk/Lugansk and basically you have the same war. It will be over in two weeks.
