  NATO sucks at diplomacy.

  possible scenarios:

  1) they fast-tracked Ukraine's membership, none of this happens, NATO Missiles in Ukraine pointed at Moscow.

  2) They agree not to let them Join, Putin backs off, none of this happens, no NATO missiles in Ukraine.

  3) what just happened. Ukraine doesn't join NATO, Putin Invades, hundreds of thousands die, Russia builds a new iron curtain and no NATO missiles in Ukraine.

  Nato went for door #3, worst possible choice.
