Don't resize your doc to 2400 dpi! that is 2400 printer's dots per inch.
PDF is my favorite means of media. I save everything I can in PDF, and it seems a lot of companies are opting for it.
As far as your art, you are totally fine at 300 dpi for the document you are creating in Illustrator, photoshop or whatever. Even 266 dpi is safe. The 2400 dpi resolution they required is in case you use Adobe distiller in order to submitt your file that way (pdf format). From the distiler menu Settings: Job Options: Hi-Res set to 2400 dpi (that is 2400 on a printer readings as oposed to screen reading). You need PDF distiller to see this option, I don't think you can get it from saving the file off illustrator, quark or photoshop.
