One of my housemates refuses to be vaccinated.
It's her right whatever I might think.
I would prefer not to live with someone who thinks like her.
She says pretty absurdities without being an anti-vaxx paranoid.

One of the worst and I almost lost my cool was:

I'm scared that people like me who refuse to use a mask or be vaccinated will be discriminated like the Jews were.

Reminder, I live in Germany and she's German.
    She's also supposedly left wing.

She's a trained nurse and could be vaccinating people but doesn't want to.

Now another housemate told me that because the first one is not vaccinated I have to be extra careful with Corona...

I have to be extra careful for someone who refuses to be vaccinated...

    • Attention she was not comparing herself and people like her to the jews, just about being discriminated.oey_oey
    • I don’t really get it, we’re like a year or two in with these vaccines, one of the greatest achievements in recent memory and the billions who got the jab are..._niko
    • ...Doing fine and thriving whereas the unvaccinated are filling hospital beds and still fucking dying. I don’t get their thought process, let alone nurses_niko
    • Anti-vaxxers have been — more often than not — lefty crystal energy, smudge stick typesGnash
    • I think people just don't want to be forced to take injections from the government and big pharma. It's quite reasonable to not want to be force-fed meds.
      ********
    • Yeah so true, the dilute one part water in a billion parts other water to cure everything crowd._niko
    • I'm finding out more and more people who took the vaccine without hesitation but they still strongly support the right to not take it. (Not anti-vax.)
      ********
    • I’m vaxxed, and I’m happy with mandated vaccines that have pretty much stopped childhood mortality rates. This wuflu vax isn’t in that category, thoughGnash
    • I think the right to control what you put in your own body is important. Especially now with omnicron not being as big a threat.Chimp
    • Plus if you have antibodies from a recent infection there is no reason to take the vaccine.Chimp
    • it'd make sense if she lived and worked in a place+job where you rarely come in contact with people. Lighthouse keeper for example.shapesalad
    • Medical staff not wanting jabs = either they know something we don't (highly unlikely) or they are not as suitable for their profession as we believe (likely).shapesalad
    • The right to control what you put in your body... Vaccine vs Virus. Only difference is one you can say no to. Other down to chance.shapesalad
    • So you can say 'no' to one and take chances with other. Or say 'yes' to one and reduce chances of death from other.shapesalad
    • But after a few months the vaccine doesn’t stop you from spreading the virus, especially with omnicron.Chimp
    • Nuremberg Code: 1. The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.Chimp
    • A vaccine with unknown long term sides effects is pretty experimental and thus should be optional.Chimp
    • play joni mitchell LPs at high volume. that'll sort her.

    • I'm curious as to how many people in this thread don't really know how vaccines work. It's still first gen, and we don't even have a trivalent vaccine yet.garbage
    • Anti-vaxx and anti-mask types have spent a few years building a festering mutation pool, so it's going to take some time to catch up. So thanks a bunch.garbage
    • Are you so naive to think that the first flu vaccine is the one that we stuck with? It's not just a jab, it's decades of research.garbage
    • And as for long-term side effects: COVID has already shown to have those.garbage
    • It would be nice if the conspiratorial "do your own research" crowd would just fall already, but we're not that lucky and they will continue to be weak links.garbage
    • At some point you’ll have to stop calling anyone with doubts or questions anti vax. That narrative is already failing. Just look at the 100,000 protesting.Chimp
    • So just call them morons?garbage
    • Because America has already proven that we have them in droves.garbage
    • So are people with antibodies who don't want to take the vaccine antivaxx?Chimp
    • I just want to move. The rest of the discussion I don't even give a fuck anymore.oey_oey
    • Well I do give a fuck, but I don't want to.
She's totally not careful herself. And doesn't respect what we decided as a group. But I have to be careful?!
      oey_oey
    • You could argue that now with omnicron it's time to get back to living normally.Chimp
    • I am really bothered by such people, too. I know some models who refuse to get vaxxed because they're vegan...SimonFFM
    • A few months after getting vaxxed you’re going to able to transmit a similar amount of the virus. If you’ve already had Covid your actually better protected.Chimp
    • So wagging your finger at the unvaxxed in times of omnicron is very misinformed.Chimp
