The big argument has always been about whether or not to get involved in selling them (for various reasons) - but who are the people spending $25,000,000,000 a year on these?

    • it's just a vacuum of rich people. Like the real art marketplace, the artists are rich people friend, and rich people buy their stuff, always has been.ekael
    • but theres also a smaller value market. artists and collectors buying from small artists. In the same way you or I will buy a print from a local artist.microkorg
    • who are buying cos they geniunely like something and want to pay that artist for it.microkorg
    • Except not at all the same way as buying a print from a small artist. Nice try though?monospaced
    • If someone likes art and wants to support the artist, they can buy a small print. Everyone wins. Nothing like that happens with NFTs.monospaced
    • If you just want to pay an artist you can give them money directly. Nothing about NFTs solves any issue.monospaced
    • The NFTs do solve an issue. Proof of ownership for legit resale of the said digital piece.microkorg
    • And not everyone wants a print. Over the next few years we'll see more 'Frame' like TVs with a demand for buying digital images.microkorg
    • Outwith the NFT realm, folk are already buying and renting images for these TVs without ever having 'ownership' of the image. I know who's daft here.microkorg
    • "If someone likes art and wants to support the artist they can buy a small print. Everyone wins. Nothing like that happens with NFTs" ok now u are trash talkingcherub
    • Happens everyday on tezos, ethereum, and even polygon and near. Go here to watch it live - https://nftbiker.xyz…cherub
    • Exactly Cherub. Paying for an NFT/Print/Turd in a bag from an artist is all the same. Artist gets money, you get something in exchange.microkorg
    • Some people want a print, some want an NFT, hey, some might even want a turd in a bag. Think some folk in this thread would rather have the lattermicrokorg
    • than being seen dead buying an NFT! lol.microkorg
    • It’s not the same. At all.monospaced
    • In your opinion.microkorg
    • proof of ownership of a token not an artwork.. incredible how nft guys always forget that...neverscared
    • ... but someone is getting paid in exchange for something still.microkorg
    • It's not my opinion. Buying an NFT through an exchange is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like buying a print from an artist.monospaced
    • The only thing they have in common is an exchange of money, except that the exchange takes a cut on each end.monospaced
    • Sorry, I don't see your sense mono.
If i buy a print from a local artist from a local gallery/store then they take a cut too.
      microkorg
    • Print or NFT its an exchange of money for something the buyer deems to be worth that value. And different people deem different things to have diff values.microkorg
