Say i went to a museum and 3d scanned an ancient statue’s face and used that data to print a mask in its likeness, could i sell that mask legally?
Is the louvre the only ones allowed to sell a mona lisa mask, for example? The museum owns all rights?
Are statues public domain?
- It’s looking like everything over 70 years old is public domain and i can do what i want with it. Moreso for works predating copyright lawscarabin

- The louvre doesn’t own the rights to the monalisa. They own the rights to any images of the monalisa that they have takenGnash
- So if you take your own photo, you can sdo what you want with it. Many museums won’t let you take picsGnash
- Many museums and galleries have released their library of image to the public domain. Not sure about the louvreGnash
