How are those with kids under 12 managing these days? Our 1-year-old hasn't been out with us grocery shopping, in stores, etc. b/c there's too much of a risk and b/c she's too young to mask. We spend all our free time outside where she'll play with others and be around others for short periods of time, but for the most part, she hasn't been out in public much at all. I'm not seeing other little ones out in public either.

It's sad how grown adults can't seem to understand how this is impacting the little ones.

    • Word. Adults acting as unbred kids, saaad!OBBTKN
    • is it your first?uan
    • I just took my 3 year old grocery shopping and to the wine store. He did great with the mask, because it's actually not a problem for kids.monospaced
    • But at age 1? No way. They can't wear a mask, they won't. Nobody expects them to either.monospaced
    • I think he is trolling us.uan
    • Hang in there — vaccine approval for 5-and-up is coming and hopefully after that the rest will follow.evilpeacock
    • Mine are 4 and 6 1/2. They're totally fine with masks and have been since August 2020. Did daycare / kindergarten this year, and my daughter (6 1/2) has beenmg33
    • in camp all summer. She starts 1st grade on Wednesday. All the other parents in the neighborhood have kept their kids safe, gotten tested when they've travelledmg33
    • I'm vaccinated but wear my mask in every situation that it makes sense to, as much to protect myself as to set a good example for my kids.mg33
    • Our first, my wife and I both have parents who were vaccine-hesitant, now we don't even believe them that they've received it, ones a nurse. WTFwhatthefunk
    • We have MAGA in our family who don't believe any of this and they've yet to hold our child let alone spend time. It's rough with a little one b/c we can't takewhatthefunk
    • her places as a family and those who aren't vaccinated think WE'RE the crazy ones - been a wild 2 years to be preggo and deliver during covid.whatthefunk

    • you sound like a great parent whatthefunk, and I’m sorry your family isn’t following protocol and can’t see your child. I hope it all works out for youmonospaced
    • But Delta appears to be more contagious and we’re wondering if we should be more careful with himnb
    • Oh shit “ Babies under age 1 might be at higher risk of severe illness with COVID-19 than older children. This is likely due to their immature immune systems”nb

    • mg33 - I agree and applaud your example, I as well. Nb - yeah no shit. Mono - thanks.whatthefunk

    • Kids deal with covid as if it was another flu. everyone at my kids daycare had it. Me, wife, my babysitter had it. I'm certain both of my kids (3 and 6) had itpr2
    • i never mask up and neither are my kids.pr2
    • that said, i gave up on trying to explain anymore how science is clear on covid and kids. they don't get sick and when they do, it's mild at worst.pr2
    • Missed the point again pr2. Again. And the science behind the point. Again.monospaced
    • It’s not about the kids getting covid, that’s the root of your confusion and utter misunderstanding. It’s about stopping the spread you dunce.monospaced
    • Until you grasp that concept you’ll be the laughing stock of this site.monospaced

    • Children's entire systems are developing at an early age and there are long term effects of SARS, Covid, MISC, etc that we don't know about. To risk a child's..whatthefunk
    • health at 1-3 while they're developing is crazy imo, older sure, gamble away b/c they're further developed, but for the young ones, no way!whatthefunk

    • We scored cheap tickets to Maui in June when case numbers were low and thought we'd have an awesome vacation. Well... the joke's on us now because we cancelled.nocomply
    • With the Delta going around and unvaccinated kids, it felt irresponsible to expose them to the risk have have them potentially miss the start of school.nocomply

    • I've talked at length with others, both parents and non-parents. We unanimously decided that 5 years old was the toughest age to go through this pandemic.nocomply

    • I agree w/ you about that age. Our 1 year old is too small and is doing just fine, I empathize with families with older lil ones - keep up the united front!whatthefunk
    • If they wear masks they slow the speed, especially to the adults who care for them and allow you all to have normal work lives too. Ffs it’s not about the kidsmonospaced
    • Post all you want about how kids don’t get sick from covid, but it is missing the point. The kids can still spread it and do! That closes things down. Ffsmonospaced
    • The sooner we ALL start taking real precautions and vaccinating, the sooner we can have life back. But people like pr2 are so fucking ass backwards with sciencemonospaced
    • And are ruining it for everyone. Selfish, fearful cunts. Scared of makes you fucking shits? Lowlife scum chooses no masks over loss of life.monospaced
    • 99.7% survival rate you brainwashed nazisHayoth
    • Explain the 99.7% survival rate to the 621,000 grandparents, dads, moms and children that are dead...captain mook.utopian
    • A 1% mortality rate “means it is 10-times more lethal than the seasonal flu,” Fauci said.whatthefunk
    • A 99% survival rate might sound promising. But when it’s scaled out to the rest of the country – a 1% survival rate takes on a different meaning...whatthefunk
    • You have about the same chance of survival driving in a car. Maybe don’t wear a seatbelt you ignorant selfish cunt. And when you get cancer, remember ...monospaced
    • It’s just 1.5% chance so maybe don’t get treatment for that either.monospaced
    • Got a 7 years old, he's totally fine about it, I've managed to keep things as normal has possible since it started. No mask, no shots and no need to panic.ApeRobot
    • i wish i saved some of the better links explaining covid in kids so you could read yourself. bottom line: seasonal flu is more dangerous to your kid than covidpr2
