Is there such a thing as purchase dread?
I have the hardest time pulling the trigger on major purchases. I have a 2011 MacBook and a 2006 car both in need of an upgrade but I know as soon as I buy something new they’ll come out with something much much better and be like
“haha you fucking idiot if you waited a little longer you could have had the next gen version which is so much better, but instead you bought this obsolete piece of shit”

So here I am in a perpetual holding pattern lol

    • but seriously, niko wait if you can for this Fall, new MBPros, new ipads maybe, anyway new stuff and new generation so wait just a little more
      ********
    • If you feel that way, then just wait until no longer possible and buy then. The need should be driver, not the want.ESKEMA
    • For sure eskema, I usually just drive it into the ground or wait till it stops working. MacBook is on its lady legs, can’t run latest Adobe suite etc_niko
    • And my car is an accord, damn thing is bullet proof, it’s got 300k on it and I could put another 300k and it wouldn’t blink lol_niko
    • Stick shift, no working radio, no Bluetooth or any other connectivity, no gps, no reverse camera, no electronic steering, just a great driving and great handli_niko
    • ...handling analogue car. Which i love that I rely on my own driving, my own skill, it’s such a pleasure, no lane change sensor no parking assist no automatic_niko
    • ...Breaking, no self driving, hmmm fuck it I’ve convinced myself to keep it, who needs all the new nonsense bells and whistles lol_niko
    • Keep the Accord. Buy a Mac now. Global semiconductor shortage might affect pricing/availabilty later in the year.monNom
    • Used car prices rising now and production of new cars is slowed down so if you don't think the accord has another 300 in it, you might want to jump.monNom
    • Buy usedHayoth
    • Yeah I'am a tight old man and every time i open my wallet - moths come out.shapesalad
    • Buy used.Nairn
    • There's ALWAYS going to be something new come up at somepoint. You just got to bite the bullet. Dont buy a new car, buy a few years old.microkorg
    • With the mac (or any tech) do some homework to see if theres confirmed rumours about a new release. And look for pattern in releases..microkorg
    • ...so if its always April Apple drops new shit then wait till after april if you want newest model. OR its a good time to buy the current model when its on salemicrokorg
    • Get it when you need it
      ********
    • Buy a 2022 car when it comes out, usually fall 2021
