Obviously most Republicans will never vote to impeach Trump under any circumstances. More important question is whether the party will take any steps to get rid of him after this is over.

It's definitely not in the interest in all these politicians like Ted Cruz and the 500 or so other people who think they can be president in 2024 to have to compete against Trump.

The most practical option might be to simply pay him off to go away. Knowing how corrupt Trump is and how he seemingly has all these debts and legal liabilities.

But then again maybe the GOP simply isn't organized enough to pull it off. During Trump's presidency you see again and again how bad incentives push people to make ridiculous decisions that aren't at all in their long term interest.

    • they'd be mad to hang onto him as some kind of kingmaker. Anyone ambitious enough to win in '24 won't want to have to seek Trump's approval foreverFax_Benson
    • I'm guessing Liz Cheney is going to have a go. She's been setting herself up the last couple of weeks.Continuity
