  I did - a best friend, but he left London and moved to Asia, sobered up and now has a wife and two kids and I think a fairly successful career. I'll possibly never see him again, but if he stays on the trajectory he's on, I'm ok with that.

  Not going to lie, I probably facilitated some of his boozing, as I'm not exactly in control of that side of my life myself - but - I never drink early in the day and I've never been turned away from my local shop(s) because they didn't want to serve me booze, both of which he suffered. I also never stripped naked and started bounding around a a pub in Camden as a drunken protest against my partner either... . Ah, happier days. Glad they're gone for him now though.
