I hear you, imbecile. But as a photographer, I'm gonna play devil's advocate for a minute. Just for fun.

There are two cases where having an extremely capable camera phone won't hurt you on a professional gig, and may even be preferable to a full DSLR setup. The first is common and happens all the time. The second is niche as fuck, and doesn't.

Case #1: You are doing event photography without press credentials and the venue rules state that *anything better than a camera phone isn't allowed.* The venue together with the artist has decided that a camera with a detachable lens is capable of real read:sellable pics/video but your smartcamera isn't. I have stuffed an entire DSLR camera down my pants before to sneak a camera that wasn't allowed into a show.

Case #2: You get all your camera gear, and DSLR stolen the day before a professional shoot. Simultaneously, you lose your mobile, or it is old/needs upgrading or whatever. This is a no brainer. I'd assure the client the pics won't suffer and roll with it. For $1,000 it solves the problem and you end up with a mobile. WIN

The sensor size is quite small, but the ability to shoot in Apple Pro RAW together with sensor shift image stabilization means those low light settings in nightclubs that used to produce shakey blurry POS pics will now be clear and vivid.

This isn't smoke and mirrors. For content producers this is perfect.

Disclaimer: I own exactly 2 apple products. Not a fanboy.

    • as a friend say "all those broke college girls going onlyfans with these and becoming homeowners"grafician
    • On the downside, the sensor is "about HALF the size of the samsung note 20 ultra" https://www.dpreview…cherub
    • Typical venue rules: "Stubb’s standard house policy does not allow professional cameras, audio or video recording devices, or cameras with detachable lenses..."cherub
    • Reads as desperation. You can buy a dslr body to replace the stolen gear from Best Buy. Subversive photos is justified theft.imbecile
