UK government adopts teacher-assessed grades in England in major U-turn
https://www.theguardian.com/poli…- woah... huge embarrassment (again).fadein11
- Lol.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯PhanLo - should take the mid point between algo and teachers marks, and add 5%. would be fair enough.shapesalad
- don't see why tests couldn't have happened. 50 students in a big hall, windows all open, fans keeping air flow.shapesalad
- plus masks on everyone. could they not done that?shapesalad
- if anyone needs testing it's the tory government, doubt they'd pass the 11+ ... the fucking idiotsBluejam
- test what? what about the curriculum? Coursework? It's not just exams. No way you could re-jig it with no time and the schools closed.Fax_Benson
- Unis are under-subscribed this year anyway due to the pandemic. Deferrals, fewer foreign students etc. Could have just gone with teacher assessment wks agoFax_Benson
- and so what if a few kids scrape into uni with generous grades...Fax_Benson
- Exactly fax.fadein11
- Utter shitstorm for Uni admissions now though. Accepted many on courses that may be oversubscribed and now have to also take on those refused a few days ago.fadein11
- ... and it's only MondayBluejam

- i build distance learning degrees/ masters and applications are up this year for my courses, worried in case they try to restructure our dept.kingsteven
- as i'm at the top of my pay grade and i can do 10x students but wont be worth it if i have to deal with more tutors and admin staff.kingsteven
