In the marke to buy a PC laptop for my oldest daughter. A pain... tons of options.
Summing up. Filtered to this 3:
- Asus Zenbook, Ryzen 7, 16 ram and 512 ssd
- Lenovo Ideapad 3, 8 ram and 512 ssd
- Huawei Matebook, 8 ram and 512 ssdI was going with the Asus, but no OS (neeed to buy a license, instal W10...), a better machine, but not getting the OS preinstalled...
Suggestions?
- lenovoimbecile
- Huawei limits you in what you can install because of political shit, if you want to save a bit of $ look into MSI, good speeds on those, I have 1 as a backupmoldero
- Does it need to be a brand new machine? My earnest suggestion would be to buy a second hand Lenovo Thinkpad. Otherwise, all <3 are nice machines.Nairn
- I got a 2nd hand Thinkpad 18 months or so ago and it's f'ing great. Don't think I'll ever buy a new laptop again.Nairn
- Oh, and on any computer, especialyl laptops - always get as much RAM as you can. Better than a slightly faster processor, imo.Nairn
- the win 10 pro licence i'm running was £2.15 on ebay if the cost is putting you off the asus...kingsteven
- Ooh, really? I saw something like that recently, someone buying a key for a machine they were going to destroy. is that shit 'legit'? I mean, it works?Nairn
- that and a £5 antivirus licence :D had to get a couple of drivers downloaded but well worth an hours graft to negate the bloatware on preinstalled OSkingsteven
- I need to flatten this machine that I'm on now - it's Win7 (trace me and hack me you cunts). I *think* I still have an upgrade path, but I need a Just In Case.Nairn
- you download windows from MS and just enter the key they give you so i think it's all legit after that point! i heard they're often unused OEM keys from...kingsteven
- machines sold to businesses that already have site licenceskingsteven
- are you able to share the link you used?
xNairn - I'm a Lenovo fanboy but that Anus is far better than an ip3. if you got the money, and the trust towards your kid that she won't break it in a month, buy that.********
- Yes sted, the Asus is my first option... I think I will catch it and buy a key, problem is I'm getting a pair of weeks of vacations and tech detox this friday..OBBTKN
- And the last thing I want to do now is to be in front of another screen for hours configuring it, it should wait a pair of weeks thenOBBTKN
- Whose anus, sted?!Nairn
- 'no longer a registered user' on the one i got @ Nairn - it was last year though... i just went on the feedback...kingsteven
- ebay?Nairn
- don't buy on ebay, most of the times you get a generated key what can be revoked at any time, sometimes they even give you access to the tool, so you can fix it********
- when ms kicks that key out.********
- Nairn it will be ur anus is OBBTKN kid ges swatted because of a stolen windows 10 key :D********
- Just throw Linux on the Asus. The quicker she learns how to use a terminal and VIM, the better.section_014
- look up hp refurbished. can only order by phone but u get some nice deals. get win baked into it. refurbished also means clean install version********
- probably get liek a i5 256 16gb for 400-500 hundie, or go less ram and standard hd for less********
