In Oslo, where I live, the local government is doing the exact opposite -- buying/building social housing in the western part of the city (red = expensive, green = cheap), to even out the division between west and east and to avoid ghettos like they have in Sweden.

- Most Suburbs in the US would be shitty for low income housing. Suburbs have no walkable services********
- Trump is just spouting bullshit nonsense as usual********
- I'm very torn on this topic.monospaced
- LDN can be quite good like this. First place when I moved here was right next to a prison (literally), yet 4 mins walk to Tony Blair's house. A bit organic.Nairn
- let's try ghettos... didn't do that in a while.renderedred
- LDN just makes it a cinder box, million pound houses next to council estates... million pound streets now have private 24 security staff...shapesalad
- Plus, why would you spend millions to then look at a council estate. It's actually better to be poor in LDN and have a nice view from your council estate flat.shapesalad
- Remind me, just which middle class suburbs in America are getting low-income housing put in?********
- Trump is getting clobbered in the suburbs... suburban voters abandoning the GOP is one of the biggest trends of past couple years.yuekit
- So I would take this sort of racist pandering as more of a campaign tactic than an actual policy.yuekit
- He's fighting (and will lose) a global phenomenon of urban/suburban inversion.i_monk
- Suburbs are naturally becoming the ghettos as people move to the city centerssarahfailin
- @sarah, not really, not at allmonospaced
- That’s not what ghetto means********
- Again, where is the low income housing?********
- Yeah there's no real factual basis behind it, just Trump trying to stir up shit like he always does. But the magic is gone.yuekit
