I must admit - and appreciate that it is entirely outwith the spirit of this thread - I don't really understand why people wear 'statement' clothing.

The above Dominic Cummings Tee is particularly weird to me - it's a cute idea, but why the fuck would I wear that?

    .

There was a family in the supermarket the other week - two parents, three kids - each had a statement emblazoned across their tees - shit like "I love ice cream" or ""feed dad beer" or whatever the fuck it was. It seriously noodled with my brain, this weird interpolation of empty memetic expressions on pastel-coloured summer tees.

    • it is a little odd. my cousin has made a fortune doing fulfillment printing of that stuff. just the weirdest stuffGnash
    • don't mind if utterly incongruous, deliberately confusing. Anything sincerely hinting at the wearer's 'personality' is unforgivable.Fax_Benson
    • I've worn a 'Spiewak' t-shirt for a long time now, purely because it's a weird-looking word. It's the only clothing I have with a 'thing' on it, and i love it.Nairn
    • Actually, that's a lie.
I have another t-shirt that has "Special Olympics Bowl-a-thon New York" or something on it

    • Tshirts from places you've been/events I can see, tshirts from the supermarket that say 'I like beer' or 'I'm the daddy' I don't.webazoot
    • I've never really understood this either. A bit like "look at me expressing my delicate personality!". I have a green t-shirt with spinach written on it.Ianbolton
    • No gig tshirts or holiday souvenir ones? That's rather unusual.Doris_McSquirter
    • I particularly dislike holiday souvenir tees.

Aesthetically, I just prefer plain or non-distressingly patterned fabric, which I guess doesn't help.

    • t-shirts look like undergarments, real men wear shirts.shapesalad
    • You are an odd chap, shapesalad.

      Peculiarly absolutist, sometimes. Often.
