Anyone else have a desire to customize things that don't really need it?

My lawnmower is 16 years old and runs like a champ. It is a riding lawnmower that has spent more than a night or two outside over the years. I bought it used about 4 years ago and am about to do the yearly tune up; oil, filters, spark plugs, and new mulching blades. Standard stuff.

But as I was going over it, I was noticing a little bit of rust here and there and thought I might buy some Steel-it to cover it once I get rid of that surface rust. Then I took notice of the faded paint and peeling stickers, thinking to myself "I could repaint this in a day".

Long story short, I'm considering a yellow seat, yellow film for the headlights, steering wheel, ridiculous shift knob for the blade engagement lever, an ebay motorcycle exhaust (i seriously think this will quiet things down), metallic black paint on the engine cover, seat platform, and deck, with yellow paint on the wheels to match the seat and headlights.

Necessary? No. Worth the $200 investment and 2 days effort? Probably.

    • Put some spinner rims on it!zarkonite
    • lol! I'm repainting metal that needs protected and replacing a cracked seat with style... some stuff may be overboard but spinners may be a bit much! :Dimbecile
