i did find this in the xhtml spec:
"C.10. Boolean Attributes
Some HTML user agents are unable to interpret boolean attributes when these appear in their full (non-minimized) form, as required by XML 1.0. Note this problem doesn't affect user agents compliant with HTML 4. The following attributes are involved: compact, nowrap, ismap, declare, noshade, checked, disabled, readonly, multiple, selected, noresize, defer."
it very well could be a bug in the khtml engine. have you checked their bug tracker? it might be worth a look.
i checked the xhtml 1.0 spec, disabled IS IN there. even in strict.
so, it should work. at this point, it looks like a browser issue.
the khtml engine wasn't the best to start with. konqueror had its share of bugs and problems...especially in the standards arena.
