I will never trust a game review again. Death Stranding has had my full attention since Friday when I got it in the mail and I've already put 24 hours into it.
I know it's not going to be the type of game everyone's going to appreciate. It's almost novel in some ways like Shenmue was when it first came out. And to be honest I'm not sure what it is that sucks me into its world. The graphics are top notch as you'd expect from Kojima, but I think the world is one that's interesting to explore. A rendition of the future with lots of mostly believable tech.
I got this game on a whim and thought I was probably going to hate it based on YT reviews but it's the first time in years that I've just enjoyed taking my time with a game didn't see it for what many games are: a digital grind with no true purpose other than pure entertainment.
It's also fun to 3D print bridges and other useful tools along the way and to receive likes from other players on the network for my carefully thought out pieces. Again, who would've thunk this would be gratifying?
https://media.playstation.com/is…- It's a great game. I rarely trust reviews and I find that with Kojima there's a lot of wild expectations combined with reviewers "playing" for a total of 8hrsben_
- and then spouting off on some pre-determined bs. The game's not for everyone, but glad you're having fun with it.ben_
- Deffo not for everyone, gonna redownload it soon. I'm near the end and am like, oh shit, how do I do this...jaylarson
- Love the hot spring experiences. Wish you could skip cutscenes easier since there's a cutscene for everything thoughjaylarson
- It must be some different experience to play this game, during this crisis...
I played it last year as soon as it was released, and I kept thinking:Fabricio - "It must really suck not being able to go anywhere, having to call for a delivery man to help with the most basic needs..."Fabricio
- it is one of my favourite games for sure. I played it also when I was going through some tough personal moments, so there was an extra meaning for me.Fabricio
- I just can't stand his cutscenes. They go on forevvvverrrr and the plots are nonsense. At least the last few MGS were like that.inteliboy
- Loved MGS Phantom Pain but mostly because of the missions. I skipped most of the cutscenes so I get it. But with this game I haven't minded them as much so idkSteveJobs
- why won't you trust reviews? They go from 100/100 to 35/100, most are above 75. Its a game that is not for everyone, so of course some reviewers won't like it..Nutter
- ... and some do. So I don't understand your logic. https://www.metacrit…Nutter
- Because Nutter, going off the reviews I saw (minus one) I was deterred away from a game I would have otherwise enjoyed had I not just taken a chance.SteveJobs
- Of course I'm going for a dramatic opener here and will still read reviews but now with a bit of skepticism as ultimately it's just someone else's opinion.SteveJobs
