Today is anniversary of another major disaster: 34 years since the Chernobyl accident. That actually made me realized that I've been through quite a few events.
- Chernobyl 1986
in 1986 I lived in the area that was affected by Chernobyl, west part of Belarus, 4 hours drive from Pripyat. That day I was in the nature outside of the city with my family.- The 1991 Soviet coup d'état
The beginning of Soviet Union collapse. It happened on August 21 1991. That day I was in Moscow, next day I landed in JFK, to start my new life in the US.- Dot com crash 2000
Prior the crash I was part of a new promising digital agency. We were acquired by a large company. The crash destroyed that company, eliminating our team on the way down.- 9/11
I watched both building collapsed with my own eyes walking distance away. At that time I lived in Lower East side. That day in the evening I sneaked to the closed area in hope to volunteer searching for survivors. It was a scary scene.- Hurricane Sandy 2012
Our house got flooded. Car drown. The whole experience was terrifying. My family got displaced for couple of months.- Coronavirus
Being in New York let me experience the pandemic firsthand. Close relatives & some friends got infected.Nevertheless life goes on.
