There are expected two more waves of Corona: autumn this year and next spring. If the idea behind herd immunity is true, there is a good chance Sweden will be better off in the long run.

Deaths per capita numbers are interesting when the whole thing is over. Anyway, to have some knowledge about how to handle these epidemies, it's good that at least one country is not in lockdown, so that you can compare Sweden to its neighbors, to actually see the effects.

Well, from a purely scientific and empirical standpoint, I suppose that's true. Not sure if that number of dead per capita is worth it, though.

    • A big If. As Kingsteven mooted a month or so ago and some evidence from S. Korea hints at - there might not be any immunity at all, which is a bit worrying.Nairn
    • this is a month old! and it's pretty much the exact same as the ICL paper from early march. we now know it has a higher R0 and lower CFRkingsteven
    • so probably will only require moderate social distancing (ie. no gatherings over 20 people etc.) after initial lockdown ends. doomers everywhere...kingsteven
    • nairn i think that was put down to dodgy testing - letting people out of hospital before they were free of the virus.kingsteven
    • I'll try and dig out the resource I read - but this was recent (last couple of days) and in addition to the previously-questione... testing.Nairn
    • it was probably the statement from WHO: https://is.gd/Pi4CLp… - 'no evidence that people cant get reinfected'kingsteven
    • they're just erring on the side of caution as they do, similar to the 'human to human transmission' tweet that got them in trouble from Januarykingsteven
    • folks cant read, and all of a sudden it's a thing... the evidence points towards immunitykingsteven
    • i was very doomy a month ago, but we did the right thing by going in to lockdown (if slightly too late) and starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.kingsteven
