The US taxpayer relief is a little frustrating.

Two families of 4, two parents two kids, compared:

A family that is just a few dollars over the limit gets $0, even if both parents are now unemployed. So they're boned.

A family who has yet been unaffected because they work from home, making a combined $150,000/year will get $3400 to help with their situation which as of yet is basically unchanged?

Why must these rules be so simplified to fit into a headline when that won't really be fair nor work?

And hey, if you're in NYC or the Bay Area with two kids how long will that $3400 last? And if you're in North Dakota?

I'm not complaining about my personal situation, I am grateful for everything I have.

    • Like wouldn't it make sense to just money to anyone who applies for unemployment? Scan your termination paper and get a cheque?nb
    • What would you get without kids?sted
    • It's $500 per kid if you fit in the limits.nb
    • In 2018 we would have qualified for the full benefit. Did much better in 2019, and paid off debt, etc. But now we don't qualify (barely over), and we don't havemathinc
    • much income due to this thing. Very frustrating. Should have held off on filing our 2019 returns.mathinc
    • @sted. I thought the number was $1200 per person up to x salary (70k?).
@nb. No, that money won't go as far in NYC

    • $1200 if u made under $75k,
      $600 if u made under $99k,
      over $99k = $0 right?

    • it still better than here, waiting for banks to decide what small business owners are allowed to survive, a lot already just closed doors and laid everybody offsted
    • Take your socialism monthly payment and do t question it nb! Not like u would ever question minimum wage of North Dakota vs newyorkdeathboy
