Yeah whatever. 14 deaths out of a billion people. More die taking selfies.

Here’s something a little more alarming, sepsis - kills 11 million people annually. That’s 1 in 5 deaths! Crazy.

    • I fucking just became a apt stock millionaire. F u this is big!robotron3k
    • I got Sepsis 2 years ago due to an infection. If my doctor didn't recognized the symptoms immediately and put me on a few antibiotics, I would of been dead...utopian
    • ...within a two week timeframe. Scary shit to say the least.utopian
    • and even scarier that we rarely hear about it. 1 in 3 hospital deaths is caused by sepsis. insane._niko
    • Kind of a false equivalency. Sepsis is your body killing yourself due to infection. Wuhan is a contagious virus capable of human to human and human to animalgarbage
    • infection. The quarantine has its merits. That like saying "Sepsis kills more people than car wrecks, so why do we need seatbelts?"garbage
    • Truth be told, I haven't even noticed SARS when it happened. Hope this one will pass fast too. Sorry for those ppl in China tho'grafician
    • Also as coming from a former communist country knowing how the government reacts in these cases, the spread is much worse, think 10x times worse by nowgrafician
    • so if they say 40 ppl dead and 1400 infected in china, it's 100% 10x of that and exponentially spreadinggrafician
    • ^ this tooMrT
    • Death toll was 26 at the time of my last note. 41 now.garbage
    • Sorry, make that in the hundreds, don't underestimate the chinese propaganda, they make everything to save facegrafician
    • Remember when Iran said the same about that plane taken down, then under international pressure they recognised they shut it down...grafician
    • You are crazy! it's global warming! Do something moran!Hayoth
    • wtf can you do Hayoth?! Coronaviruses beat global warming capitalism and communism!grafician
    • lol, until it isn't in your backyard you don't actually care. but read this and do the math: https://threadreader…sted
    • We had sars here, maybe this is worse but it didn’t live up to the hype, definitely not what we should be focusing our worry on._niko
    • It's official...we have two village idiots!utopian
    • It's hard to judge exactly how bad this particular virus is. But something like this...could be absolutely catastrophic and the world isn't ready :(yuekit
    • from 41 to at least 60 deaths in 2 hoursutopian
    • sars killed 800 total, bird flu killed 500 total, west Nile 2000, last Ebola killed 1500 and every other global panic killed a drop in the bucket compared to_niko
    • ... 1. AIDS which still kills 1 million per year, 2. Cancer which kills 9.5 million per year and 3. Sepsis which kills 11 million per year._niko
    • let´s hope it mutates and whipes us of the planet.neverscared
    • To put it into perspective, 3500 people per year die from lightning strikes, and 7000 from bee stings. This virus won’t come close to this._niko
    • ^but it come close to that and exceed it. The virus mutates and lives for a matter of hours X millions of people = a matter of time beforeshapesalad
    • an incurable variant comes to fruition. without taking it seriously, it would spread massively and deadly.shapesalad
    • It could be the next Spanish influenza, it could be the next Black Death, or it could fizzle like most others do, thanks mostly to our proactive efforts._niko
    • Seems quite likely it will kill more than 3500.yuekit
    • That's some solid scientific reasoning you go there grafician.Khurram
