re: ^
Back in the days when I was into playing minecraft for many hours at a time - into the wee hours of the morning, possibly a little encumbered by booze and weed - I'd get thoughts in my head about the prospect of An Other involved when I knew I was playing alone, milling around vast tracts of land or (more to the point) when i was deep underground in some dingy dark depth, mining in some tight spot. The simple idea of there being some other entity who was distinctly not supposed to be there - distinctly unable to be there - would begin to really shit me up.
It wouldnt've needed to do anything, wouldnt've needed to be so overt as the ghost in the horror above - just the idea of something or someone peeking from over the brow of a hill or back behind me where the shadows lay, was enough to set me on edge.
