How did all the earths water (oceans) get to earth? I don‘t believe it could‘ve been icey comets. Even over billions of years. And when comets or meteors smash into earth the ice and water would evaporate anyway because of all the heat and energy.

There‘s gotta be another explanation? Aliens?

    • it's the best explanation we have.fadein11

    • There is tons of ice in the universe. No reason it couldn’t have arrived by some crashing in.monospaced
    • There are ice moons at the edge of the solar system too. Also can’t be natural?monospaced
    • But the answer is yet to be fully revealed, making it exciting science indeed. Keep an eye out because there are a lot of smart people figuring it out right nowmonospaced
    • It's almost 11 on a Sunday night, so I am 100% not engaging in this whimsy.garbage
    • It was a man with a beard, he magic'd it there. Simples.PhanLo
    • It's all mind boggling magic mate. Not sure how you can be so baffled by how water got here when, how the fuck did WE get here more to the point.Hayzilla
    • Because without water we wouldn't be here.NBQ00
    • Hydrogen and oxygen are some of the most common elements in the universe. Do the math.i_monk
    • what i_monk saidmonospaced
    • I read that in the Earths' mantle, right now, there's enough for 10 more oceans. Water is abundant here.monospaced
    • Why did it have to be salty tho. We wouldn't have water problems.NBQ00
    • Salty water isn't a problem for life in the oceans. ;)monospaced
    • Salt is dissolved out of the rock by rain and ground water and runs to the oceans, making them salty.i_monk
    • Thanks, Bennn.NBQ00
    • You're the one asking questines.i_monk
    • lol, I know more or less how salt got into oceans. I was more asking why it had to be that way and not sweet water.NBQ00
    • It doesn't HAVE to be that way, it just IS that way. Silly humans always desperate to find meaning where there is not :)monospaced
    • Just sayin', cause we will have water wars in future.NBQ00
    • BUT HOW DID ALL OF THE WATER STAY ON THE FLAT EARTH (fucks sake)garbage
    • Because sodium and chloride ions are far more common, and been around billions of years longer, than polysaccharides.i_monk
    • I need some Magnesium later. My muscles cramping.NBQ00
    • I have a semi for i_monk's notes to this postNairn
