    Go on then, buy the CD instead. You know, one day, CD format as we know it today will be no more... just like the (higher quality) vinyl once were - similar to how people then bitched about the loss of sound quality of CDs - it's not a matter of will it happen, but when - I say 5 years max, then you'd have no choice but buy your tunes online.

    The reason why it's 128kbps (at the moment) is because of bandwidth and HD space, not because they want to compress the crap out of it. When everyone have broadband and fat HDs or when lossless compression gets better, you'll then get a better quality song (larger file size) from these online music stores (for sure).

    Right now, if you don't feel the benefit of d/l a single track without getting off your arse or if you have a party and just buy that one track that you don't own - then either buy it from a store or find it on P2P at a higher bitrate - keep in mind though rarely would you find anything higher than 128kbps on P2P.
