Seriously, whats the point of fixies outside the look?

Pretty sure it's 98% for the look and 2% for less mechanics, cheaper cost.

    • I enjoyed my time riding one when they first became the rage. I think it made me a better rider. Glad I did it but much happier with gears and brakes :Pmandomafioso
    • I always find it funny when I see people on super nice looking fixies, but they all look super uncomfortable because there's zero ergonomics on what they builtBennn

    • fixies can be really really light and also really cheap. they can go fast and only fast. you can ride backwards on them. I think those are the main thingssarahfailin
    • If you’re into cycling they’re a fun break from the norm. They help develop even cadence and can be fun to do tricks on. Don’t take it too seriously.ben_
    • It takes about two weeks to get used to the idea that if you are moving, your legs are moving. Once you become comfortable with that its really nice.slappy
    • It doesn't take any extra effort and isn't any more or less comfortable than a single speed bike for commuting round the city. I run a brake on the front thoughslappy
    • Also, Im a slightly over weight dad in my 40s. Zero fucks about how cool or not I look.slappy
    • so why not chose a bike with proper security features? like leggit breaks :)Bennn
    • A fixie with a front brake stops pretty good. I'm not saying fixies are better in any way, its a subjective thing.slappy
    • i have disks brakes on my bikes and i can make a proper emergency stop, wich is very useful in a city if you dont want to die or get hurtBennn
