Any of you guys deal with acne as an adult? It's been the bane of my existence for years now. Countless attempts at new topical products, avoiding things like whey, dairy, and coffee, trying to avoid sugar, going through stretches of perfectly clear skin, then a round of breakouts on my forehead, trying to figure out why, etc. Discovered that BCAA drinks contain an ingredient that exacerbates acne. I try to avoid stuff that raises cortisol because I'm susceptible to stress anyways and when cortisol spikes, skin breaks out. I spent the tail end of 2018 and well into early spring with perfectly clear skin, then off and on, and lately constantly.

I research the hell out of body issues and ailments and started looking around for info on all the supplements I take lately. Started seeing warnings of Vitamin B12 pop up. And wouldn't you know... the nootropic brain boosting supplement I'm taking - and that I think works pretty well - contains 8,333% of recommended B12 for the day. On top of that I take a B Complex supplement as well, and probably get some in a multivitamin.

At least I figure this stuff out but damn is it frustrating to rely on so much trial and error. Most dermatologists just want to prescribe topical treatments, and rarely talk about holistic approaches or diet, stress, etc. It's ridiculous to have to deal with this at 41 years old but hopefully the massive amounts of B12 I was getting are the current culprit. It's funny how I can pinpoint when I bought a new supplement to when skin gets bad. I'm terribly envious of people who have never had to deal with this, especially as an adult.

    • Damn, that sucks dude.DRIFTMONKEY
    • Wife uses rodan and fields, Unblemished. I know it is a cream but it seems to keep it in check regardless of diet.eryx
    • Get new bedding and pillows and always rotate clean sheets. Apply morning urine to help w/redness & keep skin crazy soft. Lastly you need 7-10 day fast to fix.robotron3k
    • You'll need to slowly work your way to the longer fast, 24 hour, 3 day, then 7-10. They key is learning to come down from a fast, as a jar of baby food will berobotron3k
    • To much for you, it will take 4-5 days to even get close to eating close to a full meal. BTW, by the 5th day if fasting you're actually high on natural hghrobotron3k
