- The hardware sits upside down but the key / cylinder do not. The lock has a tab (that you cut to length depending on door thickness) and can sit either way. ;)GM278

- uh... that is a door lever style handle, meant to be installed facing in, concave up, if flipped wud prob hit door frame, knuckles would get smunched at bestprophetone

- it's not a hollow door....the door is notched and the lock mechanism slides into a hole from the side, yes its opening out.GM278
- They then took a hole saw and drilled the hole in the frame for it. It's not that complicated. (although there are more elegant ways of doing this for your dog)GM278

- LOL. when you buy a door it doesn't have any holes or markings. You have to get machined so all that is custom made everytime. The door swinging out is a firezarkonite
- code requirement. Imagine if the house was on fire, would you want to have to pull or push to the door to get out? exactly.zarkonite
