@mono
As much as I enjoyed my apple desktop and laptop, the lack of any nvidia option is a massive letdown for me. I’m ok with paying more than a PC for the same performance and then enjoy a better quality build and OS.
But no nvidia means no access to Gpu based renders at all like redshift and octane, thus no way to learn them. If you are a graphic designer working with 3D sometime or want to develop these skills it’s an issue big enough to switch back to PC.- Octane and Redshift don't work with AMD GPU's?NBQ00
- As of today no.dyspl
- Why are you directing this at me?monospaced
- “uhhh, this is the official Apple hater thread, for those people who have dedicated their lives to hating on Apple, using Apple devices only”dyspl
- Just wanted to give an honest reason to show my discontent with current apple products :)dyspl
- First that was a joke, pure sarcasm. Second, it was a response to NBQ and jmck. Finally, I don’t care about your reasons to leave Apple.monospaced
- Ok whatever.dyspl

- Check out Blender Cycles renderer. CPU or GPU, works on Mac PC and Linux and completely free.monNom
- I've been looking at blender, wondered about earning it or keep using C4D. Have you tried it?dyspl
- Also a C4D plug https://insydium.ltd…monNom
- Blender Cycles also doesn’t play nice with non NVIDIA cards. Right?monospaced
- Blender is really deep / powerful. Maybe a bit complex vs C4D but you get a LOT of tools. I've been using it for a few years. It's really good.monNom
- I think older versions might not have been able to use openCL. My understanding is currently, cycles supports both cuda and openCL for rendering.monNom
- I'll have another look into it then :) I'm trying to see what workflow we could use to switch some of our product shots to 3d.dyspl
- and having a process diffrent people can work on without too much headeache.
CAD> main "Studio" file to drop the product and then have the same render for all.dyspl - Yeah. If blender can access my AMD for rendering I’ll have to make use of that too!monospaced
- C4Ds pro render can use AMD cards for GPU rendering. And there’s always the external GPU option.RumperChunk
